Due to Avian Influenza cases in South America, the FACTA WPSA-Brazil 2023 Conference: "Brazil, the world's supermarket" will be entirely online

Our goal is preserving the sanitary status of Brazilian aviculture in a context of recent Avian Influenza cases in neighboring countries.

After a meeting between the technical branch and the board of FACTA, it was decided that the conference would be wholly conducted online, and is to take place on May 09, 10 and 11. The goal is preserving the sanitary status of Brazilian aviculture in a context of recent Avian Influenza cases in neighboring countries. Until the present date, Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Peru, Chile, Uruguay, Argentina and Bolivia have already recorded cases of the disease.

According to FACTA’s Director President, Ariel Mendes, the change in FACTA WPSA-Brazil 2023 Conference aims to avoid transit of biological material and people, including foreigners coming from countries affected by the pathology. “There is contamination risk and since we are an entity devoted to the aviculture sector, it is natural that we change the event in such a situation to preserve the sanitary status of aviculture”, he stated. “We are totally in line with market demands and current legislation”, he continued to highlight.

According to FACTA, the event schedule will cover the main themes involved in the structuring and increasing progress of aviculture. “Our goal with the Conference remains the same: the education of professionals in the field of aviculture. We count on our technical branch to give perspectives on animal health, markets, technology, and legislation, for instance”, said Mendes.   “In addition to the precautions to avoid the entry of the Avian Influenza virus in Brazil, themes like biosecurity, Salmonella, and new trends and legislation on bacterial diseases will be addressed.”, he added.

The event will also count with a panel aimed at ESG (Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance) issues. It will address themes like waste management in the poultry industry, and compensation and maintenance of contracted growers from the perspective of the contracting industry, the cooperatives and the commercial layers sector.
